Hi, I’m Meg.
I’m a native Japanese speaker with advanced English skills and a deep passion for language education.
I still vividly remember my first time studying abroad as a university student.
When I landed at Heathrow Airport, the speed of spoken English was overwhelming—I could barely catch a word, and for a moment, I felt like crying.
But at the same time, I was amazed and inspired. That moment made me realize how learning English could expand my world and connect me with people from completely different backgrounds.
Since then, I’ve explored many different ways to improve my English—formal study, self-directed learning, and most recently, interpreter training at Simul Academy, a respected professional interpretation school in Japan.
I completed the course with excellent results, and the experience greatly deepened my ability to explain Japanese expressions and cultural nuances in English.
These experiences taught me how challenging, yet rewarding, language learning can be—especially as an adult.
I understand what it’s like to balance study with work, to struggle with motivation, and to hit frustrating plateaus.
That’s why my lessons focus on practical, efficient learning tailored to your pace, goals, and interests.
To me, learning a new language is like adopting a new way of life.
It’s not just about words and grammar—it’s about embracing new values, new sounds, new rhythms, and even discovering a new version of yourself.
I am a qualified Japanese teacher and have taught over 5,000 online lessons since 2018.
I completed a Japanese Teacher Training Program and passed the Japanese Language Teaching Competency Test (日本語教育能力検定試験), a nationally recognized qualification for Japanese language educators.
I hold a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Kyoto University. After graduation, I worked for an organic food cooperative, where I developed a strong interest in sustainable agriculture, local food systems, and environmentally conscious living.
In addition to teaching Japanese, I have developed advanced English proficiency through many years of study. I hold both EIKEN Grade 1 and Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) qualifications, and I studied interpreting at Simul Academy, one of Japan’s leading professional interpreter training schools.
I also have a lifelong interest in traditional Japanese culture and have studied tea ceremony, calligraphy, kimono dressing, and traditional Japanese sewing (wasai). These experiences allow me to introduce not only the Japanese language, but also the cultural values, aesthetics, and traditions behind it.
Over the years, I have taught students from around 30 countries and from a wide range of professional backgrounds, including technology, healthcare, education, public service, wellness, science, and business.
My students have ranged from complete beginners to advanced learners and have come from leading companies, universities, and organizations around the world.
